It's worth your life to drive here! (Lamphun temple)

And being a passenger is not that much better! OMG - Sumana failed her Ontario drivers licence three times before she finally passed. As a matter of fact she believed they were just after "the immigrants" money because she was told by so many other Thai immigrants that if she could drive in Bangkok she could drive anywhere! Humm... she is in constant motion, either swearing at the other modes of movement on the road - dogs, cats, people, scooters, bicycles, motorcycles, trucks, chickens, or she has her head in the sky marveling at the beauty of the flowers. On more than one occasion we have stopped dead in the middle of the road to take pictures of flowers! No road rage here thank goodness! Well, she has honked on several occasions but no one has returned the gesture. To top it all off they drive on the opposite side so I am, in my mind, in the drivers seat!  Thai drivers act as if they are in a road race all the time, they pass on corners and on the shoulders, if you can call them that. No seat belt rules, talking, texting and drinking (juice?) are all common place and acceptable.  Have only seen one serious accident but my eyes are closed quite a bit of the time - just kidding!

OK, enough about the lack of order on the roads as it does ad to the experience!

Yesterday we went to the pottery village - it is amazing to me that they still do so much by hand - no molds, old fashioned kilns and hand painting! Lots to be said for tradition.

Hard to judge her age but obviously still has the touch

Hand painting each pig, all in a days work!

Seriously, the pot is bigger than he is - he makes 8 a day

Some of the finished product.

Statues done by hand as well.
Greeters

The kiln
We went for lunch and had great satays, papaya, salad and not so good spring rolls - all for less than 8 dollars for both of us. From lunch we carried on to Lamphun. The temple built for the queen a long long time ago.

Hard to photograph with all the gold and strong sunshine!

Old entrance to the temple

Just nice decor

Optimistic when it comes to the donations, the wheels are there, can you imagine seeing this in North America?
