YUP, another market, another temple and the southern mansion

Just happened to run across a market on the way to Mae Rim.

Even had the kitchen sink.

Huge nets that people sleep/rest under in their market stalls.

Direct sales with a microphone to boot!

Gooseberries, 50 cents a bag!

Laughing because there was no way she could change a 1000.00 Baht bill!

I was trying to get the little girl to smile.

Finally,cute little kid!

Kate Spade knock offs ...20 dollars

How does an oil painting of a horse drawn sleigh going into the sugar bush (?) end up in Northern Thailand?

Obviously he really needed a massage after lugging all those melons!
Sumana wants to make ceramic buddhas, sell them and donate the money to the temple.  So, today we went to a place out by Mai Rim that offers lessons in working with clay. We stayed for lunch and then the owner demonstrated how she could make a Buddha in less than 5 minutes...pretty talented.

This is the crematorium where Mickie's body will go next November.

On the way back home we stopped in at the Royal Temple, we were there last week but the upstairs of the main temple was closed. Today it was open!

Royal Temple Wat Pa Darapirom

 Upstairs

All kinds of relics in cabinets.

Even the ceiling was filled with intricate detailing.

Honestly, I could not believe that the place was not guarded. There were so many gold Buddhas, gemstones and relics . So, I get it that they are probably gold leaf but none the less it is history.
Buddhism perhaps!

The area in which one lives here is still referred to as "my village" - there is actually a subdivision named Richie Rich Land  - gotta wonder if Veronica & Jughead are around somewhere!  Anyhow, tonight we walked to the "village" restaurant. I stopped and took a picture of my favorite house/mansion in our "village".

White picket fence and a St. Bernard slowly patrolling the yard!
So, this is Jutamas house, she is a judge in Chiang Mai. I meet her last week when I was out walking, she came out of her gate to turn off the street light, I spied the St. Bernard and asked if I could pet him. She understands a little English but does not speak it.  So, tonight as we were walking by she came out and although she had finished dinner she joined us at the restaurant.  For some reason she wants to take me to a restaurant for lunch tomorrow, a place where they cook like Grama. Well, I am sure it will be great and I truly appreciate the offer but don't rally get that it is a novelty here because honestly everyone cooks like Grama - everything is fresh, not frozen and generally made to order! Anyhow, I am looking forard to it and will report in tomorrow!
