Token white person! Handicraft Village,& Thai Food court

Seriously, I am getting tired of having my picture taken! Now I know how Zeke felt when I had him in Europe. He got his picture taken at least five times a day - people, the Japanese in particular, use to hide around corners to snap a pic of him. At the cow market last week I had a group of students approach me to see if they could take a picture of me with them in it - no problem. Half hour later another group - so I asked, why, turned out they were on a scavenger hunt and one of the 20 items they needed was a picture of a "white person" .  At the forest monk temple, where I was not supposed to take pictures, a white clothed women took my picture,at the funeral the photographer took my picture, at the Full Moon ceremony I had my pictures taken again! So, if you see any wanted posters please let me know!  I do not feel like a minority but the fact is that ninety percent of the places we go to I am indeed the only white person or farang.  Anyhow, its all good I guess unless I show up on some website......  I digress ....

Got up super early this morning - 6 am - and by 6:09 was out raking the leaves with Sumana, it took the two of us two hours to get the backyard done. By 8 it was too stinking hot to do physical labour.  So, we had breakfast and went to the handicraft village. No actual shopping just looking. Really tempted to fill a box/container and ship it but the reality is there is nothing I need.

Finally, acknowledgement that they cannot build/create a flat surface!

Ice coffee & ice cream

Snackcycle pulls up, laden with food

If you go hungry in Thailand then there is something seriously wrong with you. Food is everywhere all the time. If you can't get to it then it comes to you.

Weaving

Polishing the statues, she said I could take her picture but she would not look at the camera!
Even though I did not buy anything I did enjoy walking the market and browsing.
Next stop was a Thai food court. So, for less than four dollars we had more food than we could eat and ended up bringing all the left overs back for Crazy Canuck. ( Pork & vegetable soup, cashew chicken and vegetables, satays, )

Who knew pigs flossed?  Pork Floss Waffles - I'll pass!

Gelatin ducks sealed tight - pass again!

Any kind of drink you can imagine!

This particular food court is pretty clean and organized compared to some. The girl at the next table left her cell phone and wallet on the table as she went around getting her food!
Miracle Coffee  - Blue Mountain?
40 dollars, give or take

Guess there is a high demand for aluminum cutlery and melamine plates. You often see signs about fines for doing something or taking something, big fines for smoking but I think in Thailand they are just suggestions - somewhat similar to the non-existent rules of the road!

Five of us went out for a late dinner and ended up just ordering soup and pork curry. The soup was awesome, tons of shrimp, just the right spice and tender flakes of young- not old- young coconut. Michel, originally from the Seychelles via the UK and Canada was a chef, so he loves to dissect a meal.... he gave me a lesson on coconuts and hearts of palm. If anyone is really interested I can depart my new found wisdom to you later. Glad he was there though cause he stopped me just short of eating the hottest chili around. I thought it was a baby carrot! - DUH!

The red chili I know - the orange one is new to me!
Tom Yum Goong - delicious!

Happy that I did not eat that chili!
Laundry day tomorrow, I have run out of short sleeved shirts!
33 degrees, but feels like 32 - who does the weather for Chiang Mai.  I would like to meet the toad that writes that ____!

No dogs today but did find a nice tabby just waiting for a belly rub!
